R.W.
Beggs, Sr./Chileda Outreach Program
The R.W.
Beggs Sr./Chileda Outreach Program supports families of children
with developmental disabilities in the greater La Crosse community.
The primary mission of this innovative program is to maintain family
placement by providing day school support for families, training
for schools and social service agencies and summer school programming.
This program
is possible because of seed money from the estate of R.W. Beggs,
Sr. A close friend of Chileda, this former insurance agent was involved
in a wide variety of community activities, many of which benefited
underprivileged children.
Training for
teachers and /or other education staff is also available and could
include a variety of topics such as autism, developmental disabilities,
crisis prevention and intervention, behavior management principles,
augmentative communication, AAMR definition of mental retardation,
and teaching strategies for students with special needs.

As you may
surmise, the benefits of the R.W. Beggs, Sr./Chileda Outreach Program
extend far beyond our clients. This program allows us to take what
we have learned through the years and share it with the greater
La Crosse area. It's our way of giving back to the community that
has been so supportive of Chileda over the years.
