Occupational Therapy

Chileda's occupational therapy curriculum is designed to teach the skills needed to lead self-sufficient, productive and satisfying lives. Therapy focuses on improving developmental growth, sensorimotor, perceptual and cognitive development, gross and fine motor coordination, strength and range of motion, self-care skills and pre-vocational and domestic aptitude.

While the skills learned in this program are targeted toward the general objective of productivity in a supervised work environment, occupational therapy also assists the child with developing talents that help them succeed in school, play and other social situations.

In addition, occupational therapy assists with the design, fabrication and use of adaptive services tailored to the individual. Some children may benefit from specially designed splints, adaptive equipment or other aids to help them function more independently.
