Chileda Inservice Calendar

The following inservices will be offered at Chileda during the month of July.  Persons interested in attending these inservices must register in advance for the inservice by signing up on the inservice bulletin board or calling Chileda at 608-782-6480.


SEX ED. FOR THE D.D. POPULATION - By Chris Nelson.
Excellent inservice dealing with a very important aspect of our residents' lives. 
This is a Level 1 required inservice.

COMPUTER FORUM -

Here is your chance to ask Scott Mell any computer questions that you may have. Scott Mell will try and answer all questions during that hour.

SEIZURE/EPILEPSY

A very informative inservice regarding     seizures/epilepsy. The inservice will go over what a seizure is, why they happen, and what to if you witness a seizure.

SUICIDE INTERVENTION

Description of possible signs of suicide. What one     can do if one recognizes these signs, are faced with a suicidal person, feel suicidal or have lived through a suicidal attempt by themselves or another.

DISABILITY AWARENESS - Video

This inservice is about people with     disabilities in the work force. People with disabilities are people too. There will be an excellent video showing how to be respectful     to people with disabilities.

DIVERSITY SENSITIVITY

This is a Level 1 required inservice.

SENSORY AWARENESS

Excellent inservice for both new and veteran employees. The inservice goes over sensory integration, sensory diet, etc.
This is a Level 1 required inservice.

Minimum of 6 people!

TEACCH
Excellent inservice dealing with the use of schedules, work systems, and physical structure which teaches students how to get through daily routines as independently as possible.
This is a Level 1 required inservice.
    July 13- 3:40 - 4:40 PM.

C.P.I. RECERTIFICATION

Nonviolent crisis intervention. 
    Required of all employees to take 4-6 hours of CPI training every year. This is for those who have previously attended the full 2 day CPI class.
CPI Recertification is required every year!
(There will be time for lunch on your own.)
    July 14 - 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM       
Minimum of 6 people.

    CPI Recertification will be held at the Spirituality Center, located at 920 Market St.
    Go straight to the Spirituality Center if attending this class.

OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER - By Chris Nelson.
This inservice deals with background and methods of coping with this disorder as it pertains to our population.
This is a Level 3 inservice, all are welcomed to attend.

TEACHING STRATEGIES 100
 By Dr. Kirby Lentz. 
Excellent inservice dealing with important aspects of the teaching/learning process.   
This is a Level 1 required inservice.
    July 18 - 8:45 - 9:45 AM   
Minimum of 6 people!

PECS (PICTURE EXCHANGE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)
Excellent inservice dealing with this communication system that is integral with our programs.
This is a Level 1 required inservice.
    July 18 - 2:20 - 3:20 PM       
Minimum of 5 people!

CPR AND FIRST AID - (Red Cross)
By Lotty Chmielak & Mellica Oliver.
This is a course for those who are not currently certified or have never been certified.
    Those who would like to refresh their certificate may also attend but may need to stay the whole day. Books will be supplied at the inservice.
This is a Level 1 required inservice.
    July 19 - 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
    Minimum of 10 people.
    Max of 16 people.

    CPR will be held at the Spirituality Center, located at 920 Market St.
    Go straight to the Spirituality Center if attending this class.

DRIVER'S ED.
By Ray Heidel. 
This is mandatory for all drivers of Chileda vehicles. 
    This means any drivers of any Chileda vehicles including the cars, mini-vans, and maintenance vans. If you do not attend this inservice you will not be allowed to drive vehicles. Everyone regardless if they drive or not must attend this inservice to complete all of the Level 1 required inservices.
This is a Level 3 inservice, all are welcomed to attend!

STANDARD PRECAUTIONS
By BJ Lentz.
BJ goes over Standard Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogens. this is required once a year for all staff who may come in contact of any bodily fluids.
Mandatory for all employees, once a year!

ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT

    Protect the students from abuse and yourself from false allegations!
This is a Level 3 inservice, all are welcome to attend.
    July 20 - 3:40 - 5:10 PM

CBRF FIRE SAFETY

This inservice goes over fire safety.
This is a Level 1 required inservice.

TEAM BUILDING & WORKING WITH GROUPS

This fun inservice will focus on the benefits of teams and groups working together when involved in unstructured and/or semi-structured events.
This is a Level 1 required inservice.
    July 26 - Noon - 3:00 PM   
Minimum of 6 people.

    Team Building will be held at the Spirituality Center, located at 920 Market St.
    Go straight to the Spirituality Center if attending this class.

RESIDENTS RIGHTS LEVEL 2

    This an inservice addressing residents rights by giving examples and scenarios of what is and isn't a residents right violation. What resident rights are and more. This inservices takes     off where the residents rights information given in orientation leaves off.
This is a Level 1 required inservice.
    July 27 - 4:00 - 6:30 PM
