Children with developmental disabilities are disposed to the same health concerns that are common among other kids. However, their special circumstances also require additional, often intensive medical care.

To effectively manage common ailments like colds and flu and administer the treatment of disorders that are specific to the child's disability, Chileda relies on the expertise of our Health Service Department.

Often the first point of contact for our clients, it is here that each child is assessed by specialized medical personnel upon enrollment. Shortly after this initial evaluation, an individualized healthcare plan is developed.

Chileda is fortunate to be near two of the Midwest's premier medical facilities, Franciscan Skemp/Mayo Health System and Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. Since our inception, our clients have benefited from the close relationships Chileda has established with the skilled and respected medical professionals who practice at these organizations.

These physicians, nurses and support staff work hand-in-hand with Chileda's team of healthcare professionals to chart the course for each resident's care, and to modify it as needed.
