Creative Arts

Art and music are of immeasurable benefit to the development of any youngster. These activities not only encourage and develop all aspects of a child's awareness; they also promote leisure skills that are essential to a lifetime of personal fulfillment.

Our experience has shown that art, music, visual perception and relaxation are key components of a successful therapy program. While the concept of "creativity" is often abstract and difficult to interpret, the benefits of offering an opportunity for the child to express him or herself are clearly valuable.

Through art and music, the child can:

Develop problem-solving skills
Learn to make independent choices
Discover relaxation techniques
Exhibit his or her unique personality
Build self-confidence
Enjoy the satisfaction that comes with completing a task

Chileda's Creative Arts program is tailored to identify each child's special interests in the areas of music and rhythm, visual preferences for colors or shapes and tactile choices. By exposing the child to a wide variety of options, we help him discover the activities that he prefers for relaxation and self-exploration. And, because art and music are without rights or wrongs, the program is a source of many successes and smiles.
