Established
in 1987, the Chileda Foundation is an independent board that
consists primarily of financial experts, healthcare providers, social
service professionals and educators. It is charged with determining
how charitable donations are appropriated.
The
money that is contributed to Chileda by private individuals and
corporate entities directly support the costs associated with care,
education and treatment. Money raised through organized fundraisers
such as the La Crosse Chileda Classic, the Chileda Women's Board
Shrimp Boil and the Chileda Women's Board Wine Tasting and Silent
Auction is used to subsidize major out-of-pocket expenses that are
determined by the Foundation. Transport vans, exercise equipment
and computers are recent examples. It should be noted that staff
salaries and benefits are funded solely by enrollment fees.
The
Chileda Foundation also helps us manage our fundraising efforts
and maximize our return on investment for each dollar we receive.
In turn, the money we earn is used for operating expenses and educational
materials.
