Diane is Director of Special Education at Chileda. She began as lead teacher in 1984 and, upon completion of her master’s degree in Special Education, was named director of special education in 1992.

She holds three teaching certificates from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, one in special education for students with cognitive disabilities, the other in special education for students with emotional and behavioral disorders. In addition to supervising the education program at Chileda, Diane teaches weekly in the classroom and serves on several management committees at Chileda. She also chairs the assistive technology committee and is involved in ongoing staff development training.

In addition to her role at Chileda, Diane also serves as a part-time instructor at local universities, where she teaches coursework in special education. She has also been a presentor at several local, state and national conferences. Local schools and other human service agencies frequently call upon Diane’s expertise when considering special needs issues.
