As Chiledas
founder, director of social services and chief executive officer,
Dons job description can best be summarized as "quarterback
and cheerleader." He oversees the day-to-day operations of
the organization and keeps the team focused on one goal: to provide
superior care for children and young adults who call Chileda "home."
Don is also an ambassador for our clients through his professional
affiliations and board appointments.
His formal
education includes a bachelors degree from the University
of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a masters in social work from the
University of Denver. He has over 35 years of progressive experience
in the human service field; his background includes work as a social
worker for Adams County, WI and serving as a treatment home coordinator
in Wood County, WI.
Since Chiledas
start in 1973, Don has earned a reputation as an expert in providing
care and treatment for individuals with autism and developmental
disabilities. His credentials include service as chairman of the
Wisconsin Social Workers Council, coordinator of the Poor
Peoples Campaign, and treatment program coordinator for the
Division of Family Services. He has also been appointed by the Wisconsin
Board of Health and Social Services to the Association of Wisconsin
Child Caring Institutes Child Placement Review Program.
Dons
certifications include "The Hyperactive Child" and "Alcoholism
and the Helping Professors" from the University of Wisconsin.
Professional affiliations include the Wisconsin Public Welfare Association,
National Association of Social Workers, National Academy of Certified
Social Workers, and the National Association of Public Relations
for Health and Social Services.
