Chileda Web Site Captures Top Honors in ADDY Awards Competition
LA CROSSE, Wis.
March 2002

Chileda, a home and treatment center for children and young adults who are developmentally disabled, received top honors in the Consumer Web Site category at the Great River Advertising Federation’s recent ADDY awards competition.

Chileda’s newly redesigned World Wide Web site received an ADDY award, the top prize given in any category, in the Interactive Media division. Among the criteria used to judge this category are aesthetics and design, quality of content, navigability, overall usefulness and technical merit.

The site was designed and developed by Venancio Luz III of RayD8 Media Design and written by Cary Heyer. Credit was also given to Don Heidel, Shari Lewison, Scott Mell, Shelly Vosen and Jon Zinniel, who contributed to the site’s development.

This is not the first time that Chileda’s Web team has been recognized for creative excellence. It received a first-place award when it introduced the first version of the organization’s Web site in 1999.

"Using emerging technologies such as the Internet is critical to our success," said Don Heidel, Chileda president and CEO. "Capturing this award again affirms that Chileda is on the leading edge of our industry and validates that what we are doing to establish our presence on the Web is on the mark."

With the click of the mouse, individuals can discover the history of Chileda. They can learn about the organization’s mission and approach to the care and treatment of children with developmental disabilities, and view a detailed description of each department. Recent news releases and upcoming event and educational forums are also listed, and employment opportunities are posted.
