With over
30 years of experience working with individuals having developmental
disabilities, Dr. Lentz is Chileda's Vice President of Operations.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Education from Kansas Wesleyan University,
a masters degree in Education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney,
and a doctoral degree from Saint Marys University in Minneapolis
in Educational Leadership with an emphasis on organizational effectiveness.
Dr. Lentz
joined Chileda in 1984, where he oversees the organizations
overall operations and manages interdepartmental relations. Certified
as a Master Trainer by the American Association on Mental Retardation,
Kirby's abbreviated job description is to assure that every staff
member is committed to the progressive education and personal empowerment
of children with developmental disabilities.
He is a member
of the American Association on Mental Retardation, the Wisconsin
Association of Family and Children's Agencies, the Autism Society
of America and the Wisconsin School Boards Association. Considered
to be an expert on the education of children and young adults who
are developmentally disabled, Kirby is often invited to speak at
local, state and national symposiums. Kirby is an agency facilitator
for the implementation of The Council on Quality and Leadership
for Persons with Developmental Disabilities standards, and a member
of the Onalaska (Wis.) Board of Education, where he serves as vice
president.
Kirby also
participated as a research team member for two significant educational
studies: "Efficacy of Phytonutritional Dietary Supplements
for the Treatment of Autism" (1996) and "Efficacy of Auditory
Integration Training for Children with Autism" (1997).
