Accreditation

Chileda subscribes to the philosophy that the success of our program is measured by how well we respond to the individual needs of each child. In fact our mission is stated as follows:

"All children and young adults receiving supports from Chileda will develop skills in functional adaptive behaviors that lead toward successful community involvement."

Traditional approaches to the care and treatment of children with developmental disabilities emphasized compliance with established standards and regulations. As the themes of civil rights, empowerment and self-direction gained favor nationally, due in large part to the Americans with Disabilities Act, quality is defined by the outcome of the service, rather than delivery of the service.

To assure that individuals receive the care they deserve, the Council on Quality and Leadership has established clearly defined "Outcome Based Performance Measures" that emphasize values-based service and support, individualized planning and personal outcomes.

The Council is a national quality enhancement organization that represents national consumer and professional organizations and service providers who provide leadership and improve the quality of services for people with disabilities.

Our reaccreditation by the Council on Quality and Leadership in 1995, 1997, 2000 and 2002 affirms our leadership role in providing supports and services for children with developmental disabilities. Accreditation is not earned by paying annual dues.  Instead, it is the result of years of hard work, a few tears and a proven – and measurable – commitment to the principles of Outcome Based Performance.
